LOGOS Loonies @ Knox Presbyterian Waterloo

We got your email about November’s mission month for LOGOS and wanted to share some info about a new “project” that we have initiated with our LOGOS Ministry here at Knox Waterloo, Ontario.

We call it LOGOS Loonies and it supports projects through Presbyterian World Service and Development found in the Gifts of Change catalogue. Each of the tables at Family Time were given a Gifts of Change catalogue and asked to select a project to raise money for. One of the tables has decided to save for school supplies in Romania; another table has decided on clean water projects in Africa etc. Every time a table is successful at a challenge during Family Time (ie. whoever got the most runs at Table Baseball), or the table does something extraordinary (ie.. they all wore cowboy hats for Rodeo Night) , or are ”caught” being awesome they are awarded a “LOGOS Loonie” which is a chocolate coin and they put it into a hanging pouch on the wall with their table # on it.
They will be collecting their LOGOS Loonies all year and when we finish LOGOS in the spring we’ll see which table collected the most loonies. Our LOGOS Ministry will match the number of chocolate coins with real cash and donate it to the project they had selected to support. They get to “eat” the chocolate loonies they collected! Many of the kids at each table has also been taking the challenge to save their own “real” money to add to the donation that will be made at the end of the LOGOS year. It’s been a great way to get everyone excited about participating at Family Time and it’s raised their awareness of the many projects needing our support around the world.
So as you can see, we have embraced the challenge to make a difference in our world; it looks like it will be a win-win result for all involved.
We’ll keep you posted!
